CMS expects to update the QDM to version 5.6 for the 2023 reporting/performance period. We expect implementation of support for QDM v5.6 features and modifications in the production version of the Measure Authoring Tool (MAT) and Bonnie at a future date. The draft QDM 5.6 included here includes changes recommended by the QDM User Group:

• Added relatedTo attribute to “Procedure, Performed”
• Created new interpretation attribute for “Laboratory Test, Performed”
• Updated all definitions and guidance recommended in the QDM v5.5 Guidance Update published in May 2020

The attached Draft QDM 5.6 uses track changes to show anticipated modifications from the QDM 5.5 Guidance Update published in May 2020.

Comments and suggestions are welcome until QDM v5.6 is finalized in early December 2020. To submit feedback, enter comments in this QDM Jira tracker. We will accept new comments and suggestions until 5:00 p.m. ET on November 16, 2020 so the QDM User Group has time to address them for the QDM 5.6 publication.  

NOTE:

• QDM 5.5 is used for eCQMs intended for the 2021 reporting/performance period
• QDM 5.5 Guidance Update will be used for eCQMs intended for the 2022 reporting/performance period
• QDM 5.6 will be used for the eCQMs intended for the 2023 reporting-performance period - QDM 5.6 remains in development; it will be finalized in December 2020.
