Enables specific detail to be expressed about performers of actions defined within QDM.
Related to QDM-218
Modeling of new QDM entities requires clarification. Based on discussions with the QDM User Group on February 20, 2019, the group agreed to include new entities to reference more information about performers of actions:
Person - to reference a patient and a relatedPerson
Practitioner - to reference an individual practitioner, and the practitioner's identifier, specialty, role, and qualifications
Organization - to reference an organization (e.g., hospital, extended care facility, rehab facility, specialty hospital) with an identifier and a type.
Further discussions indicated that relatedPerson may reference information about someone other than the patient (e.g., referencing something about the mother when measuring care provided to a newborn infant). However, existing EHR implementations may provide a link from a record to the relatedPerson's record, they do not provide access to retrieve structured data about that relatedPerson. Therefore, the most effective way to define information about a relatedPerson is an observation (i.e., Assessment, Performed) entered directly into the index patient's record. Hence, we want to modify the entity modeling to:
Patient - identifier
Practitioner - to reference an individual practitioner, and the practitioner's identifier, specialty, role, and qualifications
Organization - to reference an organization (e.g., hospital, extended care facility, rehab facility, specialty hospital) with an identifier and a type.
The issue will be discussed for finalization during the March 20, 2019 QDM User Group session. Details about use cases will be presented in the February 20, 2019 QDM User Group minutes.
