    • Comment - PSA Screening

I am dismayed by the cynical impending decision by CMS to prevent PSA testing for prostate cancer in Medicare aged men. Do you really want us to go back to the old days where 50% of men at diagnosis had regionally or distant metastatic disease? The USPSTF recommendations were flawed and I am astounded that they appear to be accepted carte blanche. The problem was not over diagnosis but more over treatment at best. Urologists now widely accept active surveillance in many patients. However, to prevent access for at risk and concerned groups of men basically says the federal government does not believe in appropriate care for the aging male. We'll risk a bunch of deaths but save money. Please??!! Is this what we really want to say to our retirees? You should be ashamed.
