I have been able to monitor the agressiveness of my prostate cancer for better than 12 years with a PSA test every 3 mos. If it wouldn't have been for the initial PSA test indicating the need for additional tests I would be dead by now. A DRE exam did not indicate my prostate cancer, only the PSA test. Because of the continual monitoring of my PSA I've been able to treat my cancer as a chronic disease, otherwise how would I know whether the cancer is being "controlled"? Until there is a screening or test that can replace the current PSA screen, it must be allowed for full coverage as it is my only means of monitoring this cancer.
