Implementation Problem
This is in regards to EH CMS190v5 (VTE-2), CY2017 Reporting, April-2016 Specs, using Cypress 3.1.0. It appears to be somewhat related to CYPRESS-731. There is a test patient, Claire Grover, who has an ICU Admission/Transfer with Start and End Times of May 21, 2015 8am to May 21, 2015 11pm. In other words, in-and-out of ICU on the same day. In the specifications (CMS190v5.html), under Denominator Exceptions, it says “Occurrence A of Encounter, Performed: ICU Admission or Transfer (length of stay < 1 day(s))”. Cypress 3.1.0 has this patient in the Numerator, while we have this as a Denominator Exception – since the ICU LOS is < 1 day. Is Cypress wrong, or are we interpreting this statement wrong – where the “length of stay < 1 day” part is actually referring to the entire Inpatient Encounter, and not simply to the ICU stay (which is how it reads to us)?
[Update to Description] Another example, but with opposite result. Test patient Nora Obrien has an ICU Admission or Transfer from May 1, 2015 8am to May 1, 2015 10:15pm. As with earlier test patient, in-and-out of ICU on the same day. But this time, Cypress DOES have patient as a Denominator Exception.
Results for these 2 test patients seem inconsistent. In both cases, the Inpatient Encounter visit was several days in length. Could you explain why the first patient doesn't fall into the Denominator Exception but second patient does? Thank you.
