Exclusion 1 criteria for CMS136 does not match test deck data

XMLWordPrintable

    • This patient should be counted in denominator and numerator.
    • Implementation Problem

Cypress test deck is telling us that this patient (attached file for Tanya Huff) is an exclusion.
      Patient has 2 ADHD medications:

      • December 5, 2014 with no end date
      • February 4, 2015 with end date of February 4, 2015

      Exclusion 1 reads:

      • Exclude patients who were actively on an ADHD medication in the 120 days prior to the Index Prescription Start Date.

      Index Prescription Start Date reads:

      • The earliest prescription dispensing date for an ADHD medication where the date is in the Intake Period and an ADHD medication was not dispensed during the 120 days prior.

      Intake Period reads:

      • The five-month period starting 90 days prior to the start of the measurement period and ending 60 days after the start of the measurement period.

We believe that Index Prescription Start Date for patient Tanya Huff, based on all of these definitions is December 5, 2014 because it is the earliest prescription that falls into the intake period. This means that there was no prescription for ADHD medication in the 120 days prior to December 5, 2014.

The February 4, 2015 prescription can not be the Index Prescription because of two things:

      • It is not the earliest Rx in the Intake Period
      • The same medication was prescribed less than 120 days prior to this dispensing

Therefore, the patient is not excluded from the denominator.
