While doing Cypress Validation for CMS 26, we faced an error telling that the patient is not in the numerator as expected by Cypress. On further investigation, we found that the element Communication from Provider to Patient is present in the QRDA file, but the codeSystem and codeSystemName attributes were missing from the code tag. The file passed the validation after we manually put in the codeSystem and codeSystemName attributes for the code tag.

Our question is that the implementation guide (CDAR2_QRDA_I_R1_STU_R5_2017DEC Vol2_Templates_and_Supporting) does not mandate the presence of codeSystem and codeSystemName in the code tag for the element Communication from Provider to Patient. The code for the communication datatype with respect to CMS 26 is a DRC and we do not have the codeSystem details provided by VSAC, we are not having the codeSystem details during QRDA Generation. Is it mandatory to write codeSystem and codeSystemName for DRCs?
