We are one of the many hospitals having issues with reporting on the MBI for Medicare Advantage (MA) patients for the Hospital Hybrid measures.

Our EHR vendor has looked deeply into this. Their feedback has been that MBIs can be difficult to get for MA patients, due to:

-MA patient billing MBI requirements

-MBI not consistently available from the MA payer

-MA patients do not consistently carry their traditional Medicare card (and therefore do not know their MBI) 

This is frustrating because we are going to have files rejected due to missing MBIs, which will negatively impact our performance.

Potential solutions could be matching using the MA payer's ID or providing a consistent way to retrieve the MBI, either from CMS or the MA payer, or using the MA payer's ID for the patient.

This is a crucial piece of information based on the data completeness standards set by CMS. Please consider the above solution(s) to mitigate this issue.
