This impacts all facilities that have Medicare Advantage patients and report the Hybrid HWM HWR measures. For the FY 2025 (July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026) Requirement for the MBI numbers for Medicare Advantage patients places a large administrative burden on hospitals to collect information from patients that is neither readily available to the patients, nor easily accessed by the hospitals that will result in failing the Hybrid measures accuracy and completeness. Knowing that the MBI is an important linking variable, and that it is vital fort the collection of data for the Hybrid measures, before requiring this information, there must be adequate access by medical facilities to the MBI numbers for Medicare Advantage patients. Currently there is no other need by medical facilities for the MBI for MA patients except for this linking variable. The MA patients are billed through another Insurance company so these patients would have no need for the MBI. This has resulted in missing data for many of the MA patients through no neglect of information collection at the registration/facility level. Is there a readily available recommendation from CMS for how to access MBI for MA patients?
