We are a vendor that supports facilities with building and analyzing results for the Hybrid measures. Despite recommendations for facilities to use the UCUM list of accepted UOM found in the definitions, many EHRs do not use the standard units. We understand that non-standard units will be accepted and count toward the threshold for CCDE data. We are trying to help facilities analyze whether the result for their 'non-standard" unit will be used for performance calculations or whether the unit submitted will be unable to be "converted" and result in the substitution of a median result value

The hybrid measure definitions are clear about the expected UOM for the labs and vital signs to use in CCDEs. But EMRs are not using these standard UOM. It is clear with recent communications that CMS will accept "non-standard" units of measurement and this flexibility is appreciated but presents several questions

      1. Is there a list of which units will be able to be converted so the result can still be used for risk adjustment of the outcome values?
      2. Do you anticipate that there will be continued flexibility in future submissions?
      3. Will the Measure definitions be updated with additional units that are considered acceptable in a future version?
