Hello, The issue of 'intersex' came up again in our organization, as some hybrid measures files were rejected. What can be done to ensure that the file submitted by the hospital will be accepted and match the claims data? Is there any update on the discussion within the eCQM community regarding changes to administrative sex for certain eCQMs? Thank you!
I opened a ticket last Oct 2023, and below was the response:

"Thank you for your question. For the sex variable in the Hybrid HWR and Hybrid HWM measures as currently specified, hospitals should submit the historical/DNA sex (Male or Female) rather than the sex/gender the patient identifies with at the time of hospitalization. A missing sex variable will result in the case not being matched to claims data, and the case not being counted.
We are aware of discussion within the eCQM community regarding changes to administrative sex for certain eCQMs, however there have not been any changes to the value set used for the hybrid measures. Any future changes will be specified in the MAT header on the eCQI Resource Center (https://ecqi.healthit.gov/) for the corresponding specifications."
