Include weights captured in the ED/Observation status > 24 hours prior to inpatient encounter time
Hello,
We are not meeting the CCDE requirement for weight on patients who remain in observation for greater than 24 hours prior to becoming inpatient status. In reviewing our sample data, >95% of patients have a weight recorded (either in ED or upon arrival to the inpatient unit) within 24 hours before/after admit time. However, only 85% have a weight recorded within 24 hours before/after inpatient encounter time, and we have attributed this to patients who remained in observation status >24 hours. This single variable will prohibit us from meeting the 90% threshold on capturing all 6 vital signs. We propose a change to include the weights recorded in ED/Observation on admission, even when >24 hours prior to inpatient encounter time.
