A patient presents to the Emergency department and has all required lab work for both CMS 529 and CMS 844 obtained/analyzed/resulted. Patient is placed in observation status and admitted to the floor. Patient is then made inpatient after more than 24 hours from the initial lab draw results. Being good stewards of Medicare dollars and adhering to patient satisfaction of not being stuck unnecessarily again, it is not appropriate to repeat a CBC and BMP within a time constraint.
