The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) develops the functional and conformance testing requirements for the testing and certification of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) to the certification criteria adopted by the HHS Secretary. Only ONC-Approved Test Methods can be used to test products intended for certification in the ONC HIT Certification Program. Test Methods (test procedures, test data, and test tools) are used by Accredited Testing Laboratories (ATLs) and ONC-Approved Certification Bodies (ONC-ACBs) to evaluate the conformance and functionality of Complete EHRs and EHR Modules. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) values feedback and input from our various stakeholders. All Test Procedures will undergo public review and comment before being finalized and approved by the National Coordinator. The public comment period remains open for 30 days from the time of release. October 8th, 2014 – November 7th, 2014 is the public comment period for the 2014 Edition Release 2 updated draft Test Procedures and applicable test data files.
