Impact: | Can not build xml docs for MU2 reporting. |
Solution: | From The Joint Commission: The Specifications Manual for National Inpatient Hospital Quality Measures is where the chart-abstracted measure specifications reside. This is usually called the “aligned manual”, as it’s used in both HIQR and The Joint Commission’s measure reporting program. Because the specifications manual is built to support measure abstraction, it doesn’t make sense to me that there would be a QRDA mapping for it (and I don’t know of any such map). In fact, some data elements in the specifications manual do not correlate to EHR “units of meaning”. I don’t see how such a mapping could ever be standardized, and I doubt it would even be possible to directly map chart-abstracted specifications to QRDA. It seems the reporter has used these specifications to capture and extract data from their EHR, essentially “retooling” measures on their own. I wonder if they know that eCQM specifications exist, and that these are the appropriate specifications to report QRDA data on. I hope this helps. From ONC: Guidance and specifications for the measure program can be found at: http://www.cms.gov/Regulations-and-Guidance/Legislation/EHRIncentivePrograms/eCQM_Library.html |
