 Description

In evaluating the "SCIP Major Surgical Procedure" value set across code systems, it seems there are a few SNOMED codes that should be included.

These are:
445185007 – Resurfacing of head of femur (procedure)
56959007 – Operation on globus pallidus (procedure)
14072009 – Total esophagectomy (procedure)
9121000 – Excision of lesion of large intestine (procedure)
448013009 – Incision of pancreatic sphincter (procedure)
444593009 – Marsupialization of cyst of pancreas (procedure)
290691008 – Nephrectomy of remaining kidney (procedure)
287716007 – Urinary bladder reconstruction (procedure)
25811000 – Bilateral complete salpingectomy (procedure)
445912000 – Excision of fallopian tube and surgical removal of ectopic pregnancy (procedure)

Most of these have conceptual equivalence to ICD9 codes which are included in this value set (see attached screenshot). In transitioning from different workflows (e.g., ordering to documenting) these across code set changes are important but are difficult when equivalent codes one would expect are not included.
