Solution: Thanks for the question about CMS347v7 Statin Therapy for the Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease.

If there were no other indications this patient had ASCVD and the patient did not qualify for Patient Population 2, 3, or 4, then the measure's relevant Denominator Exception might apply: “Patients with documentation of a medical reason for not being prescribed statin therapy.” (valueset "Medical Reason" (2.16.840.1.113883.3.526.3.1007) might apply. You can reference the applicable codes containing these value sets on the Value Set Authority Center (VSAC) at https://vsac.nlm.nih.gov/. Click on the “Search Value Sets” tab and enter the value set ID to review codes included in the respective value set. The denominator exception would remove the patient from the denominator of the performance rate.

Impact: Question over Population 1

 Description

For Population 1 criteria: if a patient had a diagnosis of NSTEMI this year but the heart cath was normal, and the diagnosis was resolved right after the procedure, would this still pull in the patient into the denominator? On our computer system, it is pulling this patient in due to the NSTEMI diagnosis but it seems like since this was not in fact the issue and the diagnosis was resolved she should not be considered to have ASCVD? Are we interpreting this wrong or is there a way to fix this?
