Solution: Thank you for your inquiry specific to CMS871v2 ( HH-02 Hospital Harm – Severe Hyperglycemia). Based on your scenario where the encounter starts 1/1/2022 09:00:00 and ends 1/18/2022 23:59:59, the measure limits the encounter to a stop time of 1/11/22 08:59:59, as shown in the last row of the attached table.

Regarding your second question, the measure denominator eligible days are the first 10 days of an eligible inpatient hospitalization. The numerator, however, evaluates for hyperglycemic events during the first 10 days of the encounter minus the first 24 hours. Please see the attached image below.

CMS0871v2

 Description

Query:

Measure Observation 1 (Association: Denominator):
The length of stay for all eligible inpatient hospitalizations is truncated to <=10 days when the length exceeds 10 days.

Hospital Days Max 10(Period Interval<DateTime>):

Interval[start of Period, Min(

{    end of Period, start of Period + 10 days }

)]

Scenario:
Start of InpatientEncounter.relevantPeriod =  1/1/2022  09:00:00 AM
End of InpatientEncounter.relevantPeriod = 1/18/2022  23:59:59 PM

As per 'Hospital Days Max 10' requirement, starttime is 1/1/2022  09:00:00 AM. Accordingly, what is the expected stopTime for scenario given here.

Also, what will be the count of denominator eligible days for the inpatient hospitalization?

Kindly assist us on the above queries urgently as client deliverables are dependent upon it.
