The timing logic of '0-24hrs PRIOR to Admission' will affect the calculation of OBS patients as not all OBS patients are admitted to IP within 24hrs of arrival. There are gray areas wherein the clinical workflow is to wait (sometimes days) as other factors are being considered before a clinician can make a determination that the pt will be admitted as IP.
'First 0-24 hours of ARRIVAL' (covers the direct admit, OP peri-op admit, and ED admission) instead of '0-24hrs PRIOR to Admission.' and puts into consideration the actual clinical workflow.
      Thank you!

In a scenario where the patient was on Observation (OBS) status and labs were ordered the same day but the patient became inpatient on the 5th OBS day and no further labs were ordered after the IP admit date (this was because the CBC was stable and pt was being observed for cardiac reasons, hence the labs being monitored were cardiac enzymes only):
      Emergency admission: 6/2/22 12:45pm
Lab resulted date time: 6/2/22 1:24pm
Inpatient admission date time: 6/7/22 9:36am.

Would the timing logic makes more sense if the labs, VS & weight will be the 'first 0-24 hours of ARRIVAL' (covers the direct admit, OP peri-op admit, and ED admission) instead of " 0-24hrs PRIOR to Admission?" This is not realistic as hospitals have some patients on OBS for days as IP admit decisions can't be immediately made due to several factors, and sometimes the CBC is stable upon arrival and so it's inefficient to order CBC again when there's no issue.
      Thank you!
